The End!. Oh my god this game was my childhood back on the DS. To find out that it was back and that Taito wasn't a dead corporation was one of the best things I've heard all year. The visuals have been touched up and the audio has been remastered and it makes the game so much better! Controls were simple and easy to understand. I've recieved no frame-drops, no lag, no nothing! Pros:- New play style from the original Space Invaders I love.- Challenging from different levels of different difficulties.- Vibrant colors and smooth playing.- A little of a learning curve but easy to learn.- Different weapon styles to create a high score for the online leader boards.Cons:-Online only play!-No way to improve graphics to what it is locked at.-If you are photo sensitive or epileptic this game could trigger you.-Sound is always way too loud with only five adjustment settings that really does not make much difference in volume.-Only locked into their style of game mode. It would be nice if you can unlock or have the option to play the original space invaders with the graphics they have in this game.I enjoy this game. I have not tried using my arcade fight stick with it to get a real arcade feel to this game but I would recomend it for a time killer.I would give this game a 7/10 because of lack of volume adjustments and graphic adjustments.. It's space invaders with a modern lick of paint... retro design and feel means it's enough like the classic to still be called space invaders but with enough level variations and power ups to feel varied enough for modern tastes. It is slickly presented, sound is good and it's all about chasing those high scores. I never owned the Xbox or DS versions that this is based on but by all accounts this is a neat update / port of that version.. I loved the original Space Invaders Extreme when it released on the DS. This version does improve the sound and graphics but they changed some of how it plays and also made changes to some of the levels. Still, this is a very fun game. If you have not played it before, I really suggest that you give it a shot. The combination of the gameplay and the integrated music is addicting. A geat innovation on the old classic Space Invaders game play. It is one of the best games Taito released last decade. The only issue that I really have is that it is now always online, unlike the original portable game. Why? It also does not have the multiplayer mode. Seems weird to add an online requirement but then remove multiplayer. Note: I got the game on sale, not at full price.
